California International Marathon Road Closures
There is, apparently, some kind of road race thing going on this Sunday. (In this rain?! Even the ducks are staying indoors!)
Starting at 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning, there will be 16,000 self centered “athletes” clogging up the roads and interfering with your ability to drive your SUV to the doughnut shop.
Also, if one of your loved ones has the bad judgement to be out there, slogging their way to the Capitol in the rain, and you are planning to be out there to support them, you may need to plot a circuitous route to get your where you need to be. (But really, in this weather? Can’t you love them just as much while you are snuggled in your bed?)
Whatever.
According to the folks at the Sacramento Running Association, these are the scheduled road closures, mile by mile and including major streets, for the 26.2-mile race from Folsom to the State Capitol:
1 – 5:20 a.m.-7:15 a.m.: Oak Ave. Parkway just off Auburn-Folsom Rd.
2 – 5:20-7:30: American River Canyon Dr. & Oak Ave.
3 – 7:06-7:45: April & Oak Ave.
4 – 7:09-8:00: Beach & Oak Ave.
5 – 7:12-8:15: Wachtel & Oak Ave.
6 – 7:15-8:30: Fair Oaks Blvd. & Oak Ave.
7 – 7:18-8:45: Fairways Condo & Fair Oaks Blvd.
7:15-9:00:Greenback Lane & Fair Oaks Blvd.
8 – 7:21-9:00: Niessen & Fair Oaks Blvd.
9 – 7:27-9:16: Dorian & Fair Oaks Blvd.
10 – 7:30-9:30: Main & Fair Oaks Blvd.
7:25-9:40: Sunrise & Fair Oaks Blvd.
