If races have seasons, then we’re definitely in the middle of road half marathon season. October has already seen the Urban Cow, Humboldt Redwoods (part of the PAUSATF Road Grand Prix), and Folsom Blues Breakout.

Next weekend, you have a choice between the Clarksburg Country Run, or the new Run the Parkway Half, hosted by the Sacramento Running Association.

It’s hard to imagine that SRA isn’t directly targeting the Clarksburg events since they are offering similar 20 mile and 5 km distances alongside a more competitive half marathon.

The Clarksburg Country Run has been a part of the PAUSATF Grand Prix for many years, but rumor has it that the SRA folks are working to change that.

Many racers have long complained about the camber of the levee roads straining their hips, and the exposure to wind on the wide open country roads around Clarksburg.

It will be interesting to see how this develops! In the meantime, happy running!

Humboldt Redwoods Half

Totally disappointed in SRA for going against Clarksburg. I for one plan to boycott all future SRA races and plan to inform all the other runners I talk to – to do so also.
