Fast Times, Big Crowds at Urban Cow Half Marathon

Around 5,000 runners converged on Land Park this morning for the 7th annual running of the Urban Cow Half Marathon and 5Km.

Sacramento’s Austin Weaver took advantage of the cooler weather to put the hurt on all comers, getting the win and a course record with a 1:07:47 finish.

Chad Worthen, also of Sacramento, was the next in at 1:14:37, followed by Carmichael’s Mason Myers in 1:15:24.

Myers was the top masters runner for the men.

Of the women, Elk Grove’s Mary Coordt enjoyed a similarly comfortable margin, winning with a 1:20:29. Coordt was also the masters winner.

Coordt was followed in by Allison Kerr, of Vacaville, who finished in 1:24:23. Rounding out the top three women was Katie Myszka, also of Vacaville, who earned third with a 1:28:54.

In the 5Km, the winner was Marcelo Lerda of Lincoln, with a 16:49 finish.

Next in was Sacramento’s Ben Molin, with a 16:58, and Craig Stanley of Carmichael was third in 17:42.

The top three women in the 5Km were Stephanie Schmidt, of Orangevale, in 20:22, Sheri Kidwell, of Forest Ranch, in 20:30, and Traci Seto, of Elk Grove, who wrapped it up in 20:59.
